Tim began working as an Apprentice Electrician for the Southland Harbour Board (Now: South Port) at Bluff, on the Southern coast of the South Island in New Zealand, reparing, installing and maintaining navigational aids, materials handling systems, cold-storage facilities, harbour tugs (x2) and harbour pilot vessel (x1).
Tim returned to the UK in 1988 where two key positions have been held from an electric motor rewind / repair provider, and for the past 30 years in production factories maintaining / repairing machine tools making various products from piston rings for diesel engines to hydraulic directional valves, hydraulic pressure relief valves, proportional hydraulic pressure control valves and hydraulic pumps (vane and piston).
For the past 22+ years on a single site (with a number of TUPE transfers) repairing and maintaining machines that make and test hydraulic components - directional valves (large and small), hydraulic pressure relief modules, hydraulic proportional pressure control valves, and pumps (vane and piston).
